The sorting of these is a mammoth task, and well beyond the time resource of an individual. So (for example) a preset named “organ” may well be exactly the same as another one called “pipe organ” In the extraction process, I may well have actioned several of the files twice, or even three times.īeing thorough, and a bit confused as to what had been processed, and what had not. Knowing the difference between these was impossible, as the descriptions were very unclear. It took me several weeks, yes weeks, to import them all into the Arturia format.Īnd yes, I often worked from 6.30 in the morning till 7.00 at night on this.Īnd it was apparent from the offering website that there were second and third copies already there.

So I downloaded the zip file and commenced extraction. I found a repository which offered a whopping collection which was clearly labelled as “public domain” I went “Trawling” the net to see what I could find. I quickly realized that the Sysx system would be able to import any native presets that already existed. When I first purchased the V collection from Arturia

It is easy to mod the patches to make FM8 sound just like a DX7 though (DX7 sounds forward, airy, crisp, glassy, or immediate, in yer face, exciting, brash, digital) but it's Dexed that can take DX7 patches and get you most of the way there without fettling. Please find posted a collection of DX-7 presets. I got a stupid deal on Komplete 8 which included FM8, it's a much better synth (as the retail price would imply) but when using dx7 patches (sourced from the web) Dexed sounds more glassy and sharp, which is closer to a hardware DX7 without additional fiddling. I've recently purged most of my free VSTs but keeping that one. This is where Reaper stores info about your VSTs (you can clear this data and start again):Ĭ:local Disk>Users>"user name">App Data>Roaming>Reaperĭexed is an excellent free VST. If you've got problems with Reaper why not delete problem files and start again: There is no distinction such as a "Dexed.dll圆4" Are you sure you put the 32bit executable in the 32bit folder?

dll in my 32bit library and opened the 32bit version of Reaper. However I just downloaded it again to test this for you. Please let me know if the above sheds any new light on the issue for you or if you can lead me to another resource.

Thank you for your interest and responses. One of the hazards (for me) of music technology. Meaning: I'm now more involved in the technical issue than making music. So, at this point, the Geek in me is more involved than the Musician in me. I've been removing as much of the bloatware as possible and may have deleted a file Dexed might need no error messages indicate that. Transferred Dexed to my off-line XP machine, which btw is a store-bought Compaq tower. So I'm wondering if there is another file that may not have been included after I downloaded/decompressed/ Poise dll opened but its "screen" was ommitted. For example: I created a folder for only dll files and aimed Reaper to that folder. The other plug-ins work fine provided they are filed with their supporting files. The Dexed dll file is unzipped and in same folder as other "working" plug-ins (Synth1, Oatmeal, Poise). Michael and viscofisy, yes to your above responses. I don't see this being a problem, but I just want to put it out there.įortunately, I'm only at hobby/learning stage, so no significant productivity is being affected.

One other note, I downloaded Dexed and decompressed the RAR files on my Win7 machine and transferred them to my off-line XP machine via thumb drive. Just wondering if this factors into my problem. And as for license, I was happy not to go thru the info re-entry. I just want to reduce clutter in my VST list. Is there some deep-seated data that Reaper keeps? As for old DX/VST plugs, they don't open.

Plus it still remembered me as the licensee even tho I was not prompted for license info when reinstalling. Not just those, but it is displaying the names of old DX and VST plugins I haven't used in years. Despite the above uninstall/reinstall plus the removal of my Reaper plug ins folder, which I had also deleted, Reaper still found them. There is some weirdness happening however.

Still no success having Reaper find the 32 bit Dexed plug in.
